About the Expert

John Fraser

Dr. Fraser is a conservation psychologist, architect, and educator. His research focuses on how our experience with media and community influences learning, attitudes, and motivations for engagement with solving the problems that face society. He holds adjunct faculty positions at Hunter College (CUNY), Columbia University, Canisius College, and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). He holds the California Academy of Sciences appointment as Associate Editor - Operations for Curator: The MuseumJournal, and serves as a founding editorial board member for Museums & Social Issues. He is also a Research Scientist with Columbia University's Earth Institute.

Christina Shane-Simpson

Christina Shane-Simpson joined NewKnowledge in 2013 as a researcher and analyst, with particular focus on dynamic interactions that occur among humans in computer-mediated environments. Mrs. Shane-Simpson is also a doctoral student in Developmental Psychology at The Graduate Center, CUNY, where she studies college students' choices on social networking sites as they relate to self-esteem and general Internet use. She has also created technology-based interventions to assist students with autism and other disabilities to effectively navigate social networking sites. She also pursues a Certificate in Interactive Technology and Pedagogy from The Graduate Center, while she currently teaches at Hunter College.
